Irrigation systems
The right amount of water, at the right time and in the right place: that's what a good irrigation system does. Cesarino Giardini designs and installs automatic irrigation systems for gardens, lawns, flower beds, hedges, vegetable gardens and the green spaces of businesses and hospitality venues, and also maintains existing systems. We do it with specific training: we hold a diploma in installing irrigation systems.
In a region where water is precious and summers are long and dry, the goal is twofold: a healthier garden and real water savings, with less time spent holding a hose.
Watering by hand is no longer enough
During the long summer months, when rain is rare, watering becomes a daily chore, and just a few days away are enough to come back to a yellowed lawn and struggling plants. Watering by hand, it's hard to spread the water evenly: some areas get too much, others too little, and you end up wasting water by watering in the hottest hours, when most of it evaporates.
An old or badly designed system causes problems too: sprinklers soaking walls and paths, dry patches, hidden leaks that push up consumption.
A system designed zone by zone
We divide the garden into uniform zones based on exposure and type of planting: fixed or rotary sprinklers for the lawn, and drip line for hedges, flower beds, vegetable gardens and pots, where water goes straight to the roots. We check the available pressure and flow rate to size each line correctly.
Everything is run by a programmable controller, paired with a rain sensor that pauses watering when it isn't needed, with different schedules for summer and the rainy months. Grouping Mediterranean plants that need little water, such as olive trees, lavender, rock rose and rosemary, cuts consumption even further. Pipes are carefully buried and the lawn is restored, so all you'll see of the system is the result.
If your garden is still to be created, it pays to plan the system from the start, together with the garden design: pipes are laid before the lawn and flower beds, and every zone gets exactly the water it needs. Where possible, we also look at using rainwater collected in a tank over autumn and winter, or a well, checking the water quality (near the coast it can be brackish), to reduce reliance on mains water.
The right water, even in high summer
In country gardens and around swimming pools, water is precious: we adjust and fix irrigation systems so the lawn stays green even in the hottest months, without waste. "The hot summer doesn't scare us" is also thanks to a well-calibrated system.
The service, item by item.
Hydraulic survey
Measuring the pressure and flow of the available water, from the mains, a well or a storage tank.
Zone design
Dividing the garden into areas with similar needs and choosing the most suitable type of emitter for each.
Lawn irrigation
Fixed or rotary pop-up sprinklers, positioned for even coverage without soaking walls and paths.
Micro-irrigation
Drip line and drippers for hedges, flower beds, vegetable gardens, planters and terraces, with low water consumption.
Automation
Programmable controller, solenoid valves and rain sensor, with seasonal schedules set up.
Maintenance and repairs
Spring start-up, summer checks, winterising, leak detection and upgrading of existing systems.

Irrigation: frequently asked questions
Can't find the answer? Call us or message us on WhatsApp.
Message us on WhatsAppCan a system be installed in an existing garden?
Yes. With small-scale digging and careful planning of the pipe routes, even an established garden can be irrigated. Once the work is done, we restore the lawn and flower beds.
Does automatic irrigation save water?
Compared with watering by hand, a well-designed system distributes water more precisely: it waters in the early morning, when evaporation is lowest, and with micro-irrigation it delivers water only where it's needed. The rain sensor also prevents unnecessary watering.
What needs doing in winter?
With the autumn and winter rains, irrigation should be reduced or paused; inland, where the odd frost is possible, it's also wise to drain the most exposed pipes. In spring the system needs to be switched back on and checked, and a mid-summer check is useful to adjust run times to the temperatures. We can take care of it for you.
Can I also water my terrace or pots?
Of course. With a drip system connected to a tap and a timer, planters and pots can be watered automatically, a handy solution when you're on holiday too.
Do you repair systems installed by others?
Yes. We also work on existing systems for leak detection, replacing sprinklers or solenoid valves, upgrading the controller and redesigning zones that aren't working well.
