Tree felling
Sometimes a tree has to go: it’s dead or diseased, it’s leaning after a storm, it’s lifting paving or foundations, or it has grown too close to the house, cables or pool. Cesarino Giardini carries out felling of medium and tall trees for private clients, apartment buildings, companies and hospitality businesses, always safely and without damaging anything around it.
Where there’s room, we use directional felling; where space is tight, we climb the tree using tree climbing or work from an aerial work platform (MEWP) and take it down one section at a time, lowering the pieces on ropes.
When a tree becomes a risk
A pine with a lopsided crown hanging over the roof, a eucalyptus grown too tall by the fence, a palm attacked by red palm weevil, a dead tree dropping branches with every gust: these are worrying situations, especially with the winter mistral and scirocco winds.
Improvising a tree felling is dangerous: a trunk falling the wrong way can damage houses, cars, systems and people. It takes technique, equipment and staff qualified to work at height.
Controlled felling, with the right techniques
We assess the tree and the space around it, then choose the safest method: directional felling when the trunk can come down without risk, or sectional dismantling from above, lowering the pieces on ropes, when there are roofs, walls, pools or other plants to protect below.
When we finish, we leave the area clean: branches chipped, trunks cut into manageable pieces or taken away and, if you wish, stump removal or stump grinding plus advice on replacing the tree with a more suitable species.
The service, item by item.
Tree assessment
Health, stability, lean, and proximity to buildings, cables and systems, so we can choose the safest felling method.
Directional felling
When there’s enough room, the trunk is brought down in a set direction, with correct directional and felling cuts.
Dismantling by tree climbing
Where machinery can’t reach, we climb the tree on ropes and dismantle it in sections, lowering the pieces safely.
Aerial work platform (MEWP)
For tall trees and palms in yards and accessible areas, we work from the platform with qualified staff.
Stump and roots
Cutting flush to the ground, stump grinding or stump removal, so the area can be replanted or paved.
Clean-up and disposal
Chipping of branches, cutting up trunks, loading and disposal of green waste in line with regulations.

Tree felling: frequently asked questions
Can't find the answer? Call us or message us on WhatsApp.
Message us on WhatsAppDo I need a permit to fell a tree?
It depends on the municipality, the species and the area: some trees, such as olive trees or those in protected areas, require authorisation. During the site visit we’ll tell you if it’s needed and how to proceed.
Can you fell trees very close to the house?
Yes. In these cases we don’t bring the whole trunk down: we climb using tree climbing or a platform and dismantle the tree piece by piece, lowering the sections on ropes without touching roofs, walls or systems.
Do you take the timber away?
Yes, clean-up is included: we chip the branches and cut the trunks into pieces. If you’d like to keep the wood for the fireplace, we’ll leave it cut and stacked wherever you tell us.
Do you remove the stump too?
Yes, on request: we can cut it flush to the ground, grind it or dig it out, depending on what you want to do with that area afterwards.
Do you also fell diseased palms?
Yes, including palms attacked by red palm weevil, taking the necessary precautions not to spread the infestation and disposing of the material correctly.
